CALL FOR PLACENTA is a proposition made by Kadija de Paula for the exhibition ENCOURAGEMENT. Here she makes a call for new mothers to donate their placentas and give her the honor to cook them. The objective is that together, mother and artist, investigate the nutritional benefits of placentophagy - a common practice amongst placental mammals - and, explore the culinary and social aspects of eating human protein by making a “Placenta Party”, a celebration in which the mother eats her placenta to prevent postpartum depression and other complications,and shares it with guests who wish to celebrate the newborn and her motherhood.
